Defence Blacks - Kit Day

The military equivalent of the Rugby World Cup is currently underway in Japan ahead of the Rugby World Cup and Dynasty Sport is proud to provide the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) with on and off-field apparel as they compete in the International Defence Rugby Competition.

Comprising of servicemen from the Royal New Zealand Navy, New Zealand Army and Royal New Zealand Air Force, the team will be looking to fend off strong contingencies from Australia, United Kingdom, Fiji, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Georgia, Japan and France, who are all represented at the International Defence Rugby Competition.

The Defence Blacks squad have opened their campaign with a strong 47-35 win over the Australian Defence Force. The NZDF will be looking to continue their strong start to competition when they take on the defending champions, the Fijian Army tomorrow (19th September), with the winner progressing through to the final on the 23rd September.

This will be the third IDRC competition, with the NZDF Defence Blacks looking to claim their maiden title. NZDF Defence Blacks Captain, Jaxon Tagavaitau, is optimistic about the teams chances at this year’s IDRC competition adding,

“It’s humbling to receive the kit, just putting that Jersey on, the badge, that fern and representing your country is exciting”.
