Design Your Own Tee | Dynasty Sport

Earlier this year, Dynasty Sport and the One NZ Warriors handed the creative reins over to the fans, launching the Design Your Own Warriors Captain’s Run Tee competition and giving the community the opportunity to create a piece of apparel that would be worn by the team.

The competition began online, where fans were invited to submit their designs through an online entry form. Designs could be hand-drawn or digitally designed, in the hope to give Warrior's supporters of all ages the chance to get involved.

The response exceeded expectations, with over 500 designs submitted throughout the entry period.

Once submissions closed, the process of narrowing down hundreds of incredible concepts began. More than 500 entries became a Top 10, handpicked by the Dynasty and Warriors design teams, before the shortlist was reduced again to the final three.

The Final Three

After working through more than 500 submissions, three designs remained, each bringing a completely different design and story.

Rather than selecting the winner internally, the final decision was handed back to the public.

The three finalists were revealed through Instagram, where supporters were given 72 hours to vote for the design they wanted to see be brought to life.

Thousands of fans had the opportunity to have their say, but after the 72-hour voting window closed, one design came out on top (just!)

Meet the Winner - 11-Year-Old Luca

The winning design belonged to Luca, an 11-year-old HUGE Warriors fan. Luca’s design has now been transformed into a special edition piece of One NZ Warriors apparel by Dynasty Sport. Winning the competition is about much more than seeing his design produced.

On Tuesday, Luca had the opportunity to meet the One NZ Warriors players and personally present them with his Captain’s Run Tee. Luca had a VIP tour of the One NZ Warriors HQ, shook hands with his heroes and even attended a team meeting where he talked the team through his design.

From Winning Design to Captain’s Run

On Friday 21st August, Luca will see the One NZ Warriors wear his winning design at Captain’s Run ahead of their clash against the Rabbitohs. This will mark the final stage of a journey that began with an online submission months earlier. Taking one young fan's design from a hand drawn idea on paper to a garment worn proudly by the team.

The Captain’s Run won't be the end of the story, either.

Following the team's session, the project will shift its focus towards giving back to the wider Warriors community.

20 Signed Tees Supporting the Warriors Community Foundation

To celebrate the winning design, 20 of these individually named and numbered Warriors Captain’s Run Tees will be made available through a special charity auction.

Numbered 1 through 20, every tee will be signed and auctioned individually on Trade Me, giving supporters the opportunity to own a unique piece of the DYO project.

The auctions will go live on Friday 21 August, with funds raised going towards the Warriors Community Foundation and the work it does throughout the community.

From more than 500 entries, to a Top 10, three finalists, a 72-hour public vote and one 11-year-old winner, the DYO Warriors Captain’s Run Tee has been shaped by supporters from beginning to end.

The Final Three

Ioane

From the northernmost point of Cape Reinga to the southernmost edge at slope point, this artwork traces the full spine of our land. A journey of unity and identity. This artwork represents more than geography; it represents our people, our friends, our families and the connection that binds us across every corner of Aotearoa. "This is warrior Nation".

Robyn

This Jersey represents neurodiversity and the many people across Aotearoa New Zealand who live with Autism and ADHD, as well as the parents and whanau who support then every day. This Kaupapa holds a special place in my hear as a parent of a child who lives with both autism and ADHD. Through this design, I want to help normalise neurodiversity.

Luca

I wanted my shirt to look strong and proud. The Māori patterns represent New Zealand, and the Warriors colours show team spirit. The design is strong and bold, just like the Warriors.
